Protocol for management of macrosomia
Causes
1.Familial
2.Gestational Diabetes
3.Beckwith Wiederman syndrome
4.Maternal Overnutrition
5.Soto's Syndrome
Treatment
1.Chech RBS 1 hourly for 6 hours then 3 hours for 24 hours.
2.If RBS <2.5mmol/l
3.Give lVF 10% Dextrose 2mls/kg as bolus
4.Recheck RBS after correction of hypoglycemia
5.Maintenance fluid
6.If baby is stable send to mother to feed 3 hourly
